Filming a Kilkenny wedding
Kilkenny is a comfortable enough journey for me, but I still plan for it properly: leaving in good time and settling in well before anything begins.
The filming itself doesn't change with distance. Documentary style, compact equipment, no staging, no directing, and staying in the background so the day belongs to you rather than to a camera crew.
Kilkenny wedding venues
Lyrath Estate. A 17th century estate house on the edge of Kilkenny city, with a modern hotel and 170 acres of grounds built up around it. I filmed a wedding here on 21 August 2026.
Mount Juliet Estate. A five star estate on the River Nore, built in 1757, combining historic rooms with newer contemporary spaces.
Langtons Hotel, Kilkenny city. A city centre hotel wedding, and one I've filmed here.
I also know The Newpark Hotel, if you're marrying there. If your venue isn't named here, ask; I travel across the county for the right wedding.
The marble city and the Nore valley
Kilkenny pairs a genuinely medieval city, all narrow lanes and a working castle, with a river valley of country estates around it. It's an easy county to make a wedding weekend of, for guests as much as for the couple.
