Mayo is a long way from home in Wicklow, but Ashford Castle and the country around Cong and Lough Corrib are worth the road.
Filming a Mayo wedding
Mayo is a genuine journey for me, so I plan for it properly: travelling up the day before and staying over, so I'm on site and settled well ahead of anything starting.
The filming itself doesn't change with distance. Documentary style, compact equipment, no staging, no directing, and staying in the background so the day belongs to you rather than to a camera crew.
Mayo wedding venues
Ashford Castle. A 13th century castle estate on the shore of Lough Corrib at Cong, on the Mayo/Galway border. One of Ireland's best known five star wedding venues, and I'd take the right date there.
If your venue isn't named here, ask; I travel across the county for the right wedding.
Lough Corrib to the Wild Atlantic Way
Mayo runs from the lake country around Cong out to the Atlantic coast, wild and open in a way that's completely different to Leinster. It's part of why couples choose to marry further from home: the scenery does work no venue in the east can match.
