Virginia Park Lodge Wedding Videographer

A calm, documentary-style wedding film at Richard Corrigan's country estate in Cavan, captured quietly so you can stay in the moment.

Filming at Virginia Park Lodge

A videographer who knows the estate

Virginia Park Lodge is a very special place to film a wedding. The estate sits above Lough Ramor in Virginia, Co. Cavan, and it belongs to the chef Richard Corrigan, which tells you most of what you need to know about the food. It is one of those venues that feels homely rather than grand, and that feeling comes through in the films.

I've filmed here and met Richard while working on a wedding at the Lodge. The whole place is set up for celebrations that flow from room to room and out into the grounds, which suits the way I work: no staging, no directing, just quietly following the day wherever it goes.

What the Lodge gives a film is continuity. Ceremony, drinks in the gardens, dinner and dancing all happen in one place, so nobody disappears into cars and the story flows from one scene to the next. When the weather plays along, the gardens and the water in the late afternoon give the kind of natural light I plan whole days around.

During ceremonies and speeches I work with compact gear from the edges of the room, close enough to catch everything, far enough back that you'll forget I'm there. Candlelit country house dinners suit the way I shoot: I work with the light the venue gives me rather than rigging my own.

Good to know

Planning a wedding at Virginia Park Lodge

A few things couples ask me about filming at the Lodge:

  • Leave a little slack in the timeline between the ceremony and dinner. Ten unhurried minutes outside with your photographer and me beats a rushed half hour.
  • Have a wet-day plan you actually like. The Lodge's indoor spaces film beautifully, so rain costs you nothing on film.
  • If you're having a band, the evening is worth capturing properly. The first dance and the session that follows are often the best footage of the whole day.
