A modern hotel, an ancient view
Trim Castle Hotel sits in the middle of Trim, Ireland's ancient walled town, with its Wedding Suites and Rooftop Garden looking directly across the river at Trim Castle itself, the largest Anglo-Norman castle in the country. The hotel has 68 bedrooms, some with their own castle view.
I've filmed weddings here. It's a genuinely unusual backdrop: a modern hotel wedding with an 800 year old castle sitting in every window.
Where Trim Castle Hotel weddings happen
There are three Wedding Celebration Suites, each with double height ceilings and views of the castle, and the Great Hall, which takes up to 500 for a big day. Across the suites, the hotel can host weddings up to around 350 guests.
How I work
Here's how I work, wherever I'm filming: compact equipment, no staging, no directing, and a habit of staying out of the way so the day looks like it actually happened rather than a production.
- The Rooftop Garden and the castle view give a genuinely striking backdrop, especially in the evening light.
- Trim itself is worth stepping outside for. It's a proper walled medieval town, not just a car park between hotel and castle.
