A discreet, documentary-style wedding film on the shores of Lough Meelagh, between Keadue and Ballyfarnon in Co. Roscommon.
Two hundred years on Lough Meelagh
Kilronan Castle is a 200 year old neo-Gothic castle, once the ancestral home of the Tenison family, set in 40 acres of woodland overlooking Lough Meelagh. The grounds include walled gardens designed by Diarmuid Gavin and woodland paths running around the lake.
I'm booked to film a wedding here in October 2027.
Where Kilronan weddings happen
The Grand Ballroom is the main reception room, with chandeliers and space for anywhere from an intimate 150 up to 320 guests, so it scales from a small day to a big one without losing the room's character.
How I'd approach it
Compact equipment, no staging, no directing, and a habit of staying out of the way so the day looks like it actually happened rather than a production. The lake, the woodland paths and the walled gardens should give plenty of quiet spots to step outside for ten minutes during the day.
- Roscommon is a longer trip than my usual patch in Leinster, so an early conversation about timings and travel is worth having.
