Ballykealey House Wedding Videographer

Ballykealey House sits just outside the village of Ballon in County Carlow, about an hour south of Dublin. It was built in the 19th century by John James Lecky as part of a marriage proposal to Sarah Lucia Smith, so there's a nice bit of history in the fact that it's still hosting weddings today.

The house has real period character: the Oak Room keeps its original Tudor-style panelling, and the Ballroom Suite gives a bigger wedding room to spread out in. With 12 period bedrooms in the main house, 2 courtyard rooms, and self-catering lodges on the grounds, a good share of the wedding party can stay on site.

I haven't filmed a wedding at Ballykealey House recently, so I won't oversell familiarity I don't have. What I can tell you is how I work everywhere: compact equipment, no staging, no directing, and a habit of staying out of the way so the day looks like it actually happened rather than a production. If a venue like this has a scale or a setting that suits documentary filming, I'd love the chance to film it.
