Exclusive hire changes the film
Kilshane House is taken exclusively, and that single fact shapes the finished film more than anything else about the venue. There is no second wedding in the next room, no residents wandering through your drinks reception, and no handover time to work around.
What that means practically is that every frame is your day and your people. In a hotel I spend real effort keeping strangers out of wide shots and working around function signage. Here I do not have to, so the camera can sit back further and stay longer. Documentary filming rewards patience, and exclusive hire is what buys the patience.
It also means the day can breathe. Nothing has to happen at a particular time because a room is needed at five. Couples usually feel that as a calmer day; on film it shows up as moments that were allowed to finish rather than being cut short.
Planning a wedding at Kilshane House
A few things couples ask me about filming here:
- Autumn is genuinely good here. The lower sun gives you softer, warmer light for longer, and it flatters both the house and the grounds.
- Because you have the place to yourselves, an unhurried timeline costs you nothing. Build in more room than you think you need around the drinks reception.
- Tipperary is a drive for guests coming from Dublin or the east. Worth thinking about accommodation and start times early, since a late-arriving guest list compresses the part of the day that films best.

A wedding I've filmed at Kilshane House
The film above is Keeva and Michael's. They married in Tipperary and held their reception at Kilshane, on an autumn day that gave us exactly the light this house deserves.
